Student Use of Computers
Nowadays, with the development of our society, computer has become an
indispensable part for human beings. People use computers in various fields,
especially for the students, they use computers to help them with their
calculating, programming, etc. From the above chart, we can see that in 1990,
a student only spent less than two hours on the computer per week, in 1995,
the hours of using computer were a little bit higher than before. But in
2000, the situation was totally different, the time which spent on computers
amounted to nearly 20 hours per week.
As far as I'm concerned, I think there are many reasons to explain this
phenomenon. First of all, it is due to the progress of our economy, people's
living standards have been improved and they want to learn more about the
hi-tech knowledge to let themselves adapt to the society. Second, human
brains cannot deal with all the problems which people might meet in some
occasions, so computer is the best solution to speed up the efficiency.
Third, we must learn some fundamental knowledge about computer to meet the
needs of heated competition, otherwise, we'll lose the chance of getting a
job or having a promotion.
All in all, we can conclude that computer plays an important role in our
society. But just as a coin has two sides, computer also has some
disadvantages. For instance, it may distract the students' attention,
students may be absorbed in computer day and night without doing anything.
This may has a bad impact on their study. Besides, they may make use of
computers to do some illegal things. So we must use computers properly, only
this way can we improve ourselves gradually.
