sure. set up vmware to use NAT, write down the vmnet? NAT eth interface.
ifconfig vmnet?
to check the IP subnet of your VM machine,
choose a IP/mask on that subnet for your VM then you
get your VM connected at once.
remember to start from `compact' installation floppy set.
ftp is a little tricky because your VM is behind a NAT firewall
only passive ftp connection is possible.
Use http is good enough, and faster than ftp actually.
