This week's Delphi Tip
Selecting a component's parent
When designing forms, it's often necessary to put containers,
such as panels, on the page that will 'hold' other components.
When a particular component is selected, it's extremely easy to
determine, and select, that component's parent. To do this, make sure
that the form being designed is active. Then, select the component whose
parent you wish to find, and press [Esc]. This will automatically
select that component's parent. This procedure can be performed
repeatedly, and finally the ultimate parent, the Form, is selected
into the Object Inspector.
This tip is especially useful when a component has been 'Aligned to
Client' and its parent cannot be selected.
