There and Back Again Lane编号Sarah 100,是英国独立厂牌Sarah公司发行的最后
一张唱片，专辑收录了8年来Sarah旗下众乐队的代表性风格作品，尽管它不一定是
张各乐队最好作品的合辑。除了少数作品如Heavenly的94年单曲Atta Girl是相对
比较后期的以外，其他作品多半是各乐队早期的单曲，这也完整的记录了Sarah公
司典型的美学风格，即由唱片公司创立人Clare Wadd和Matt Haynes一手构建的
Indie-Pop(独立流行)风格：清新爽朗的吉他，简洁悦耳的旋律，矜持雅致的男女
声唱腔，流畅干净的英式吉他编曲，部分小型管弦乐的应用以及梦幻般的和声。歌
词上，除了伤感的词汇便是英国摇滚擅长的反讽。
St. Christopher的 "All of a Tremble," The Sugargliders，the Field Mice的
"Sensitive"，the Sea Urchins的"Pristine Christine"都是典型的indie pop曲
式。the Field Mice这类80年代的indie乐还有明显的new wave倾向，这在鼓击节
奏中尤其清晰，"Sensitive"有点机械阴郁的节奏容易让人联想到Echo&Bunnymen的
作品。
Heavenly桀骜不逊的Atta Girl和BOYRACER生猛的he gets me so hard，还有
ACTION PAINTING的mustard gas表现了Sarah内部的多元取向，在节奏旋律上都倾
向于较柔和的流行朋克。SECRET SHINE的temporal则融合了白色噪音，用密集的鼓
点加上块状漫布的吉他噪音。Tembling Blue Star前身NORTHERN PICTURE
LIBRARY女主音柔和模糊的唱腔多少有点Dream pop意味。East River Pipe的
"Make A Deal with the City,"显示了Indie pop后来的一个取向，即电子合成器
的加入，效果甚至盖过了吉他。
There and Back Again Lane是sarah最后的留念，但远非Indie的结束，后来的
Shinkansen继承了Sarah的某种风格，更多的Indie乐团也逐渐涌现。
